Adult servers assist the priest who presides at Mass, become involved in the parish, and become an integral part of the celebration of the liturgy. Adult servers are often required for weekday and funeral Masses. Training is provided.
Extraordinary ministers present the Body and Blood of Christ to those who come to Holy Communion at all liturgies. Ministers are scheduled to distribute communion during Masses on Saturday evenings, Sundays and Holy days. They also volunteer at weekday Masses as needed.
Lectors engage the parish community in thoughtful reflection on the Word of God through proclamation of the scriptures, prayers of the faithful, responsorial psalms, general intercessions and petitions. A sacristan is responsible for preparing the sanctuary and sacristy for Mass and other liturgical services, acting as the "stage manager" for worship by setting up sacred vessels, vestments, and ensuring all items are ready and clean
Ushers assist in seating those attending Mass and by passing out the collection baskets at Offertory time. When large attendance is at a Mass they may be required to setup additional seating for the over-flow.
